Evolution is the best tool to test sustainability. The "Form of Life" installation is a symbiosis of architecture and wildlife. A living object grown from the mycelium of a fungus clearly demonstrates the potential of this organism as a renewable source of materials for construction. Lightweight and durable, produced with a zero carbon footprint and biodegradable. "Lifeform" is the result of an experiment to grow building blocks from reishi mushroom mycelium.
In the process of their creation, cylindrical products from hardwood and coniferous sawdust with mycelium on a grain substrate were collected and rammed. The presented blocks demonstrate the degree of germination of the mycelium within one month. All materials were grown with the participation of the Aptekarsky Ogorod branch of the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University.
